Its's More Than Just a Notion

Comment by Etta Mockenhaupt on February 15, 2009 at 1:32pm: I was raised in a very concervative home, where the prophetic was not only not understood, but greatly frowned upon.

But, I was a sickly child. Was born with a very serious lung problem which almost took my life.

One one of the occasions that I was sick home from school, I had the privilege of stumbling upon a Kathryn Koolman service on television, (If anybody has heard of Ms.Koolman than I strongly suggest that you research this extraordinary life).

From the very first time I sat through one of her services, I was hooked. She described her Lord as more personal than, anybody standing right next to her. That she could actually see him standing right in front of her.

From that moment on, I wanted THAT type of relationship with Jesus. It wasn't the Jesus I heard of every Sunday Morning, or even at special events at church, or even at 'kids camp.'

About six weeks went by, that I caught her show without interruptions, until one afternoon my mom came home early from work and saw what I was watching. She turned three shade of red, fire came out of her mouth, and told me NEVER, EVER watch that witch again!!! I tried to explain, but to no avail, my mother had made her mind up long before she came in the house that day.

"I was wrong and she was right! I was just a snotty nose little kid that didn't know anything!"

From those afternoons in front of my televison, I made a choice to live my life in pursuit of Jesus Christ just like Kathryn Koolman.

Then, when I became an adult I heard of Amy Simple McPhearson, and Maria Edder. And I marveled.

Now, there are many voices for God, male and female voices. But I have found that the work is not what comes out of our mouths, or even in our obedience, (though that IS key to walking through all the doors God has for us), but the WORK is in intercession, fasting, and prayer.
